3rd Place in School - Fall 2020

Problem: Since COVID brought unsustainable growth to Paver Outlet, an e-commerce based landscape supply company whose low overhead allows it to undercut big brick-and-mortar companies, and whose founder and CEO has been looking forward to retiring, how can we help Paver Outlet deal with short-term demand spikes and form an exit strategy?

Solution: We recommend a business improvement plan to deal with short term painpoints brought on by explosive growth, including reorganizing Paver’s sales department into teams, and investing in an accounting system to get the business’s finances in order. The latter will help prime the company for our recommended exit strategy, which is the longer-term recommendation: to pursue getting acquired by a larger landscaping company or by a private equity company.
