Spring 2020

University of Washington - Foster School of Business

Problem:

A vending machine company has seen a decrease in foot traffic due to the touch requirement to use the machine.

Proposed solutions:

Rethinking placement, increased safety, and differentiated products are what they need to improve.

  • Create a touch-less machine for their customers to interact with, the machine would be voice-activated only.
  • Increase sanitation practice, to make sure the machines are being cleaned more frequently
  • Begin to transition from schools and SMEs to temporary healthcare centers
  • Offer access to fresh, local, high-quality food products without the need for delivery services
